Autonomous hAT DNA transposon from zebrafish

HAT1_DR is flanked by 8-bp TSDs and encodes a 597-aa transposase (ORF positions 654-881, 1152-2111, 2205-2390, 2487-2894). The zebrafish genome harbors subfamilies of nonautonomous DNA transposons that are derivatives of an autonomous elements similar to HAT1_DR. HAT1N_DR is one of these subfamilies; its consensus sequence shares ~85% identical 238-bp and 138-bp termini with HAT1_DR. HAT1_DR and HATN1_DR elements had imperfect 9-bp terminal inverted repeats (1 mismatch) at the time of their transposition in the past. It's closely related to the Furousha transposon in fugu.
