DNA-8-1_DR is a nonautonomous DNA transposon. It is characterized by 16-bp terminal inverted repeats and 8-bp target site duplications. The termini are similar to tjpse of hAT-N79_DR. DNA-8-1_DR is a composite transposon, as it contains a copy of TDR4 transposon (pos. 910-1142). DNA-8-1_DR elements are ~95% identical to their consensus sequences.
