Internal sequence of a Gypsy LTR retrotransposon from zebrafish


Flanked by Gypsy-29-LTR_DR. Consensus obtained after the alignment of at least three independent insertions bearing at least 85% homology over at least 1000 bp. The internal portion contains two ORFs encoding a 412-aa gag protein (pos. 62-1297) and a 1292-aa pol protein (pos. 1297-5172) composed of protease, reverse transcriptase, and integrase domains. Some insertions were fairly recent, considering the high identity between their flanking LTRs.
