PROTOP_B is a nonautonomous form of PROTOP DNA transposon.

Description

PROTOP_B is a member of a family of nonautonomous DNA transposon derived from the autonomous P-like transposon PROTOP (proto-P). PROTOP_B has perfect 31 bp-long TIRs and it has generated 7-bp duplications of target sites upon its integration in the genome. The average divergence between PROTOP_B copies and their consensus sequence is 7%. This divergence is an overestimate of the family age since PROTOP_B consists from several minor subfamilies.
