INVADER2 may be an active retroelement since some of its proviral copies are almost identical and flanked by 99% identical LTRs. INVADER2 generates 4 bp target site duplications upon its integration into the drosophila genome. INVADER2_I encodes a 1474-aa polyprotein which is composed of gag, protease (peptidase A2), integrase and RT domains. INVADER2 belongs to the INVADER group of GYPSY-like transposons together with MICROPIA, BLASTOPIA, MDG3, INVADER1 and INVADER3.
