HMSBEAGLE_I is an internal portion of HMSBEAGLE Gypsy-like LTR-retrotransposon which is an active mobile element. HMSBEAGLE generates 4-5 bp-long duplication of the TATAT-like target-site upon its integration into the genome. HMSBEAGLE_I internal sequence encodes gag (position 1260-2663) and pol (position 2603-5782) polyproteins.
A transposable element that splits the promoter region inactivates a Drosophila cuticle protein gene.
