PAL8C_1 is a putative non-autonomous DNA transposon. It generates 8-bp duplications of target sites upon integration in the genome. PAL8C_1 has perfect 26-bp terminal inverted repeats. The length of the target site duplications hints that transposase involved in proliferation of PAL8C_1 belongs to the HAT superfamily.
