NPALTA1_CE is a putative non-autonomous DNA transposon. It generates TA target-site duplications. NPALTA1_CE is flanked by 49 bp-long terminal inverted repeats and it forms a non-perfect palindrome with a 18 bp-long central loop. Mariner/Tc1-like transposase seems to have been involved in transpositions of the NAPLTA1_CE sequences.
