HAT4_CE is a putative non-autonomous DNA transposon. It generates 8-bp duplications of target sites upon integration in the genome. HAT4_CE has perfect 12-bp terminal inverted repeats. The length of the target site duplications indicates that transposase encoded by the autonomous HAT4_CE-like element is related to the HAT superfamily.
