HAT2_CE is a putative non-autonomous DNA transposon. It generates duplication of 8 bp-long target site upon integration in the genome. HAT2_CE has 17 bp-long perfect terminal inverted repeats. The length of the target site duplications indicates that transposase encoded by the autonomous HAT2_CE-like element is related to the HAT superfamily.
