X13_LINE (DF0001198)

Repetitive element conserved in all mammals.

Fragment of an L2-like LINE. ORF 1-1274 encodes a pol closest to CR1-24_DR_pol in Danio rerio. Copies occurring in turtles and crocodilians create an identical consensus as those appearing in mammals (at orthologous sites in humans and platypus). However, fragments aligned between mammals and archosaurids appear paralogous.

  1. Distinct groups of repetitive families preserved in mammals correspond to different periods of regulatory innovations in vertebrates.
