PiggyBac DNA transposon, MER75 subfamily (non-autonomous)
A brief description of the entry. Suggestions for modification to this description can be submitted using the adjacent pencil icon.
MER75 has 14 bp TIRs, and belongs to the T2 type putative DNA transposons which have previously been described in Xenopus (Unsal & Morgan, JMB 248, 812-823, 1995). The elements duplicate TTAA upon insertion. MER75 has a preference for inserting in the sequence TTTAAATAA. MER75 is related to an autonomous piggyBac element that has apparently had its tranposase "domesticated" as a simian-specific gene: PGBD4, PiggyBac-Derived 4 (NP_736609.2). Note that MER stands for MEdium Reiteration frequency interspersed repeat. As such, MERs as a group are a grab bag of DNA transposons and retrotransposons.
|Class||Cut and Paste|
Number of matches to this model that meet the "Gathering" threshold and more stringent "Trusted" threshold. For each threshold, two numbers are shown: (1) the number of matches to this model after removing redundant hits to other models ("non-redundant"), and (2) the total number of matches above threshold, including those with better scoring matches to other models ("all hits").
The model is 514 positions long. The average length of non-redundant hits to the model is 430.1. This table shows the number of hits above score thresholds:
|non-redundant||all hits||non-redundant||all hits|
