MER61D was refined and renamed from LTR20. It is related to MER4-int, MER41-int, MER57-int and MER65-int. Note that MER stands for MEdium Reiteration frequency interspersed repeat. As such, MERs as a group are a grab bag of DNA transposons and retrotransposons.
