MER101 (DF0000768)

MER101 Long Terminal Repeat for ERV1 endogenous retrovirus

MER101's hallmarks are 4 bp TSD and 10 bp TIR. Weak similarity to the MER65C and MER87, and the target site length indicate that MER101 may be a long terminal repeat related to the MER4-int group. MER stands for MEdium Reiteration frequency interspersed repeat. As such, MERs as a group are a grab bag of DNA transposons and retrotransposons.
