MER127 (DF0000724)

Putative TcMar-Tigger DNA transposon, MER127 subfamily

Description

MER127 found at >150 copies in mammals and chicken. Has 25 bp TIRs. Terminal similarity to TcMar-Tigger element MamRep434 informs this MER127 classification. Note that MER stands for MEdium Reiteration frequency interspersed repeat. As such, MERs as a group are a grab bag of DNA transposons and retrotransposons.
