Internal region of ERV1 endogenous retrovirus, HUERS-P1 subfamily

Originally, a consensus sequence of the 856-bp 5'-terminal part of the internal portion of HUERS-P1, an LTR retrotransposon with LTR8 long terminal repeats, was obtained. It was reported in 1998 that the remaining portion of HUERS-P1 is related to the MER4-group. At that time only 10% of the human genome was sequenced and it was not enough sequence data for an accurate full-length consensus sequence, which was finally derived in 2008 from the completely sequenced human genome. HUERS-P1 has Pro tRNA related PBS  analogously to MMLV, HERVR (BaEV), HUERS-P3 and HUERS-P2. It has 4 bp target site duplications like all the other members of MER4-group.
