Human HERV-K14 and its variants were examined carefully by Flockerzi et al . HERVK14 is found both with and without an env gene. This model lacks an env. In the rare variants that do, env would start around position 5144. Long terminal repeats associated with HERVK14 are LTR14A and LTR14B. Features in the consensus from ref : lysine PBS (~9-28), gag (~125-1798), protease (~1657-2604), pol (~2535-5183), polypyrimidine tract (~6078-6095).
