A brief description of the entry. Suggestions for modification to this description can be submitted using the adjacent pencil icon.
FLAM_A is a SINE that derives from a single, internally-deleted 7SL RNA.
Fusion of a free left Alu monomer and a free right Alu monomer at the origin of the Alu family in the primate genomes.
Nucleic Acids Res 1992;20:487-493 Pubmed
Origin of the Alu family: a family of Alu-like monomers gave birth to the left and the right arms of the Alu elements.

Number of matches to this model that meet the "Gathering" threshold and more stringent "Trusted" threshold. For each threshold, two numbers are shown: (1) the number of matches to this model after removing redundant hits to other models ("non-redundant"), and (2) the total number of matches above threshold, including those with better scoring matches to other models ("all hits").
The model is 142 positions long. The average length of non-redundant hits to the model is 132.3. This table shows the number of hits above score thresholds:
|non-redundant||all hits||non-redundant||all hits|
